Rhonda Cleaves Recognized for 2020 Texas Super Lawyers®

/

Cleaves Family Law is proud to announce that Rhonda Cleaves has been named to the list of 2020 Super Lawyers® in Texas.  Only 5% of lawyers in the State of Texas are selected for inclusion on this list of attorneys.

Lawyers cannot nominate themselves for this list, but instead are nominated by their peers.  After nomination, candidates are evaluated using multiple indicators of professional achievement and peer recognition.  Some of these indicators include not only experience, but also honors and awards, scholarly lectures and writings, and special licenses and certifications.  A panel of peers by practice area is then formed to offer evaluation on all of the candidates.

“I am honored to be included on a list with such a prestigious grouping of attorneys,” shared Ms. Cleaves.  “I work hard to provide caring, quality representation to my clients, and I feel like this is an acknowledgment of those efforts.”

Ms. Cleaves has been practicing law for over 25 years, with more than half of that time spent practicing Family Law.  She founded her firm, Cleaves Family Law (www.cleaveslaw.com), over a decade ago.  And while she has in the past handled litigation cases in the courtroom, she now leaves that work to others in her firm and instead focuses her own practice on Collaborative Divorce work.  She also serves on the Board of Directors of Collaborative Divorce Texas, a statewide organization with the mission of educating the public about this alternative to courtroom divorces.

Collaborative Divorce is a legal process, defined by state law, that allows divorcing clients to resolve their divorces in a peaceful way outside of the courtroom.  A “distant cousin” of mediation, Collaborative Divorce is handled in private meetings utilizing jointly retained professionals to help clients make financial decisions and when children are involved, decisions about parenting schedules, to reach a settlement.  The process is completely private, efficient in terms of time and cost, and takes the decision for a couple’s family out of the hands of a trial judge.

According to Ms. Cleaves, “I whole-heartedly believe that for most families, a Collaborative Divorce is a far better option than a traditionally litigated divorce.  The process simply gives divorcing couples all of the control over their future lives and that of their children, rather than putting it in the hands of a judge who hardly knows the couple.”

Cleaves Family Law represents clients throughout North Texas, including Collin, Dallas, Denton, and Tarrant counties.  More information about the firm, their attorneys, and the services they offer can be found at www.cleaveslaw.com or calling them directly at (972) 403-0333.
